Theodore Knox: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Theodore Knox committed to Mississippi State, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a scouting report based on his film.
Trey Knox has excellent speed at the receiver position. He has great acceleration and long speed making him a threat from anywhere on the field. Knox tracks the ball well and is a good deep threat. He is not a one trick pony and can hurt the defense in many ways including jet sweeps, screens, drag routes and routes downfield. He is a threat to make a big play after the catch every play because of his speed and burst. Knox displays good hands and does a good job of catching the ball even when taking a hit.
Knox is not a big receiver and will need to get stronger at the college level which will help him use his speed after the catch. He is built like a slot receiver and will likely play inside in college. He needs to progress as a route runner and become more of a pure receiver rather than relying so much on his speed. This will be easier if he can improve his lateral quickness to create separation and to help him find space after the catch. Trey Knox is a speedster who will develop into a good slot receiver and be a starter at the power five level.
