Size
Tetairoa McMillan is a tall receiver who has a size advantage against most defensive backs. He also has good length and a frame that will continue to add muscle as he matures. McMillan already shows good strength at receiver and will continue to get stronger as he fills out. He has the ability to overpower defensive backs with his size on the perimeter.
Athleticism
McMillan has good speed and can challenge the defense vertically. He shows good change of direction skills, especially for a bigger receiver and has nice acceleration to get up to speed quickly. McMillan has good athleticism to go with his elite size, and the combination creates a scary skill set for defenses to handle.
Route Running
McMillan shows good polish as a route runner and has a good sense for finding pockets in the defense. He is balanced throughout his routes and creates good separation out of his breaks. McMillan is able to set up defensive backs and gets them off balance before making his break. He can get open in a variety of ways and can beat man and zone coverage.
Ball Skills
McMillan displays elite ball skills, regularly making difficult catches look easy. He has long arms and an excellent catch radius that makes the quarterback’s job easier. With his size and leaping ability, McMillan has a major advantage in 50/50 situations. Add in his exceptional body control and it is easy to see why McMillan is difficult to stop even when the defensive back is in position.
Run After Catch
McMillan is effective after the catch as well, he has the burst to pull away from defenders and the power to run through arm tackles at the second level. He also displays good balance and a feel for open space, keeping his feet easily on his cuts and finding seams to exploit. McMillan is able to pick up yards after the catch effectively and adds value in this area.
Projection
Tetairoa McMillan is a big and athletic receiver who creates mismatches on the perimeter. He is a smooth athlete who runs good routes and has elite ball skills to convert big plays against good defensive backs. With all of the physical tools you can look for in a receiver, McMillan will develop into one of the best receivers in college football.
