Updated: 02/10/2022
With the season underway players have had the opportunity to raise their stock and move up the rankings. Before we dive into Brock Bowers, here’s a few reminders about the rankings themselves:
- The rankings will be updated throughout the season.
- Players who have not played college football are not eligible for the rankings.
- Players are graded on their college ability, not their pro potential.
- We are judging players on their film, production and physical tools.

Georgia began 2021 down it’s top two tight ends, with Darnell Washington injured and Arik Gilbert out for personal reasons. Bowers had performed well in the Spring game and stepped up to fill the void at tight end. He caught six passes in the season opener against Clemson, albeit for 43 yards, but went for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns in week two against UAB. His role continued to grow as the season progressed and he became a go-to weapon for the Bulldogs. He led the team with 56 catches for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns while also rushing for a 56 yards and a touchdown on four carries. Bowers made an impact for National Champions as a true freshman and will only get better as he progresses.
Bowers is an excellent athlete at 6’4″ 230 lbs. He has the speed to stretch the seams of the defense and put pressure on the linebackers and safeties in coverage. Bowers also has good agility, making quick breaks and creating separation on his routes at all levels. His athleticism makes him a dangerous runner with the ball in his hands, where he has demonstrated the ability to turn the corner and break tackles for big plays. Bowers is an excellent athlete at tight end that stretches the defense in ways it is not prepared for.
While the athleticism is an excellent advantage, Bowers also shows the hands and feel to be a great receiver. He has soft hands and catches just about everything thrown his way. Bowers has a good understanding of the coverage and sets up his routes accordingly to give his quarterback a good window to throw into. He uses his frame well to shield off defenders and protect the football. Bowers is an advanced receiver who is an ideal safety blanket over the middle for the quarterback.
Bowers is an advanced receiver and wonderful athlete at the tight end position. He can get open with ease and can turn any play into a big play with his running ability. Bowers is still working on his technique as a blocker, but is explosive off the ball and is an effective and willing blocker. Bowers does everything for the Bulldogs and has been a key weapon for a dominant team. Bowers was so advanced as a true freshman, the sky is the limit for what he can become as a player during his career at Georgia.
