Steve Angeli: Scouting Report
Size
Steve Angeli has good size for a college quarterback. He has above average height and already carries a good amount of muscle on his frame. Angeli has the build to continue to add good weight and should have no problem handling the physicality of the college game. He has the height to read the defense and make throws comfortably from the pocket.
Release/Mechanics
Angeli has a clean release that is efficient and repeatable. His footwork is inconsistent at times, particularly when he is rushed, and results in some accuracy issues. He maintains his good quick release when on the move and is comfortable throwing from variety of arm slots and off platform.
Arm
Angeli has above average arm strength and can throw the ball with zip underneath and stretch the defense vertically. He is inconsistent with his accuracy, but when his footwork is solid he is much more consistent in this area. Angeli can make throws on the move and is able to put touch on the ball when needed.
Mobility
Angeli is not a great runner, but is a capable runner. He has solid athleticism and good mobility in the pocket to evade the pass rush and buy time. Angeli picks his spots well and is able to pick up key yardage when the defense loses contain of the pocket.
Intangibles
Angeli displays a good understanding of the offensive concepts his team is running and makes good decisions with the ball. He will hang in the pocket and wait for a play to develop when needed. Angeli does a good job of keeping his eyes downfield when he is on the move and is likely to find a late breaking receiver for a big play.
Projection
Steve Angeli looks the part of a college quarterback prospect. He has the size, arm strength and instincts needed to perform in college. Angeli should only get better with experience and will develop into a good quarterback who can be a starter for a power five team.
