RB Rankings: Quinshon Judkins
As we review the RB rankings, players have had a chance to raise their stock and move up the rankings. Before we jump into Quinshon Judkins, here’s a few reminders about the rankings themselves:
- The rankings will be updated throughout the season.
- Players who have not played college football are not eligible for the rankings.
- Players are graded on their college ability, not their pro potential.
- We are judging players on their film, production and physical tools.

Mississippi running back, Quinshon Judkins has stepped up and taken on a key role in the Rebels offense as a true freshman. He has gone over the 100 yard mark in five of eight games this season, including three times in four conference games. Through eight games, Judkins leads the team with 829 yards and 12 touchdowns on 126 carries while also catching 7 passes for 71 yards and another TD. Judkins has gotten off to an excellent start to his career and has earned a spot among the best running backs in the country.
Judkins has good long speed. He has the ability to pull away from defensive backs at the second level. Judkins is difficult to get an angle against with a second gear that makes him tough to catch in the open-field. He does not waste time getting to the second level giving the defense less time react and make a play. Judkins speed is accentuated by his ability to get downhill quickly.
At 5’11” 210 lbs, Judkins has the size to be an effective runner between the tackles and he does not shy away from the middle of the defense. He does an excellent job of picking his hole, putting his foot in the ground and getting downhill quickly. Judkins gets his shoulder pads parallel to the line of scrimmage putting him in good position to take on would-be tacklers. This downhill running style makes him tough to tackle and gets him to the second level quickly so he can put that speed to work.
Quinshon Judkins has become a star as a true freshman. He has big play speed, but runs the ball with a workhorse attitude that keeps the offense moving consistently. Add in the fact that he is a capable receiver out of the backfield and a willing blocker on blitz pick-ups, and there is little weakness in his game. He is well on his way to becoming one of the top running backs in college football.
