Dante Moore: Scouting Report
Size
Dante Moore has good height for the position. He is still filling out and needs to continue to add strength to his frame. As he adds muscle he will be big enough to handle the college game. Moore is big enough to make plays from the pocket and outside the pocket, though added strength will help him withstand the rigors of the college game.
Release/Mechanics
Moore has a compact release that is efficient and repeatable. He has sound footwork and does a good job of generating power from the ground up when he throws. He is fundamentally sound with his footwork and release in the face of pressure, which allows him to be consistent delivering the football.
Arm
Moore has enough arm strength to stretch the field or fit the ball into windows in the coverage. He couples that with good anticipation, getting the ball out on time to minimize the time the defense has to react. Moore’s consistent mechanics show-up with his accuracy as well, his ball placement is excellent, allowing his receivers to make plays. He shows plenty of touch when needed, throwing an accurate, catch-able ball.
Mobility
Moore has good footwork and is able to work outside the pocket. He has a good feel for pressure in and around the pocket and is able to maneuver around it efficiently. Moore has not shown that he is an explosive running threat on designed running plays, but he is not a statue in the pocket and has the ability to make some plays with his feet when asked to.
Intangibles
Moore is a tough quarterback who will make throws when taking big hits. He has shown the ability to rise to the occasion and shine in difficult situations. Moore is a true leader for his offense and carries himself as such. He displays the poise and confidence to make big plays under pressure.
Projection
Dante Moore has the make-up of an elite college quarterback. He is a natural leader, with the physical tools to perform at the next level. Moore’s ability and intangibles will allow him to develop into one of the best quarterbacks in college football.
