Randoph Kpai: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Early this year Randolph Kpai committed to Nebraksa, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Randoph Kpai is a fast linebacker prospect who attacks the football. He has elite speed and acceleration for the linebacker position and could play safety with his athleticism. Kpai closes on the ball with great burst and arrives with authority, he is a striker who delivers impact to the offensive player. He is excellent in blitz situations and reacting to perimeter run plays where he can put his speed to work.

Kpai will need to add a good amount of weight to his frame to play linebacker at the college level, at this time he looks like a defensive back playing linebacker, but he does have good length and room to add weight to his frame. He is a fluid athlete who can make plays in coverage but is clearly more comfortable attacking the line of scrimmage. Kpai uses his speed and agility to avoid blockers at this level but does show the ability to use his length to disengage at times, at the next level he will need to continue to improve his block shedding ability. Kpai may have been a strong safety in the late 90’s but in modern football he is a linebacker. Randolph Kpai has elite raw athleticism and should develop into a good college player at outside linebacker, or potentially a linebacker/defensive back hybrid position.
