QB Rankings: Cameron Rising

With the season underway players have had the opportunity to raise their stock and move up the rankings. Before we jump into Cameron Rising, here’s a few reminders about the rankings themselves:

The rankings will be updated throughout the season.
Players who have not played college football are not eligible for the rankings.
Players are graded on their college ability, not their pro potential.
We are judging players on their film, production and physical tools.

Utah quarterback, Cameron Rising missed most of the spring and summer due to a 2020 injury, but won the job early in 2021. He led the Utes to a 9 – 2 record after taking over as the starter when the team was just 1 – 2. Rising’s strong play and leadership helped Utah win the Pac 12 and play in the Rose Bowl for the first time in program history. He completed 64 percent of his passes at 7.8 yards per attempt with 20 touchdowns against 5 interceptions and also ran for 499 yards at 6.7 yards per carry with 6 touchdowns during the season. Rising showed he is a great player and leader who can elevate the program to new heights.

Rising is a big and strong athlete at quarterback who has surprising quickness and speed. Rising is listed at 6’2″ 220 lbs and plays with power, showing the ability to take hits and shrug off would be tacklers. He has good burst and his speed can lead to big plays on the ground. His athletic profile makes Rising a frustrating player to defend, he is difficult to catch, but the players who do catch him will also struggle to get him down. The running threat he provides not only moves the ball effectively but opens up running lanes for the running backs as well.

On top of the size and athleticism that make him tough to defend, Rising is an excellent leader who has rare play-making ability. He is tough in the pocket and will make big plays in the passing game despite being under a heavy pass rush and taking big hits. Rising shows a knack for finding the open player even when he is being swarmed by the defense, then finding a way to deliver an accurate pass when under duress. His ability to make something out of nothing not only moves the ball, but rallies his teammates around him. Rising is a true leader who elevates the play of his teammates with his spectacular play and leadership.

Cameron Rising is a talented quarterback who has the accuracy and arm strength needed at the position. He adds to that ability with his strength, athleticism and intangibles. Rising has the leadership, toughness and flair that every program in the country searches for in it’s quarterback. He has proven that he is the complete package at quarterback who is among the best in the sport.
