Peter Costelli: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Peter Costelli committed to Utah, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Peter Costelli is a dual threat quarterback with great speed and a good arm. Costelli has good size and strength at the quarterback position and is strong enough to run out of arm tackles. Costelli has elite speed and good acceleration, he can run away from most player on the field. While he is more of a straight sprinter and is not as quick side to side, the speed makes it difficult to get an angle on him regardless.
As if the breakaway running threat wasn’t enough, Costelli has a good arm to boot, he throws a good deep ball and has good velocity on underneath throws. He shows good touch on his deep ball which makes it easier for his receivers to track. His accuracy is above average but he needs to show improvement in this area. He displays good footwork at times but is inconsistent with his footwork especially when he moves and resets. Also, Costelli needs to do a better job of anticipating his throws at the collegiate level as he tends to wait a touch too long at times. Overall, Costelli is a good dual threat quarterback with room to improve. Peter Costelli should be a dangerous college quarterback who forces defenses to gameplan for his running ability, but is also capable of beating them with his throwing ability.
