Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge committed to Oklahoma, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge has an elite frame with the height and length to develop into an elite edge player in the future. He shows above average to good quickness and change of direction ability but is not upper echelon in either attribute. Rawlins-Kibonge understands the importance of using his hands at the point of attack and is excellent at disengaging to make a play on the ball carrier. That being said, he needs to be more consistent in creating separation from blockers and using his phenomenal length to his advantage. Rawlins-Kibonge has an inconsistent motor that shows on film and we would like to see more consistent hustle when pursuing plays. Length should be an asset in disrupting passing lanes and Rawlins-Kibonge is very good in this regard. He is an impactful tackler that delivers a blow and does a solid job of wrapping up ball carriers despite towering over them. In order to maximize his abilities, Rawlins-Kibonge must play with better leverage as he often stands up as opposed to shooting forward out of his stance. Playing with better leverage will also help him convert his speed into power when penetrating the line of scrimmage. Rawlins-Kibonge is a very raw prospect with an elite frame for the position that could end up playing inside depending on how much bulk he adds. There are plenty of issues with technique that need to be cleaned up, but if they are, you are looking at an all-conference level talent.
