Size
Kamari Wilson has good height and a strong frame for the safety position. He is already a well built prospect that will continue to fill out as he develops. Wilson can play in any scheme, as he has the physicality to come up in the box and the length and range to play over the top.
Athleticism
Wilson is an elite athlete who has good speed and can cover plenty of ground in the secondary. He has excellent short area quickness, showing the explosive burst needed to close on the play. Wilson has good change of direction ability as well and will be tough to beat in man coverage. Athletically, Wilson has everything a safety needs to succeed.
Coverage Skills
Wilson has an excellent feel for passing plays developing around him, he anticipates well and reacts quickly to make the play. He is very comfortable playing deep and closing on plays in front of him. Wilson is a good athlete and can cover one on one when needed, showing the fluidity needed to mirror receivers downfield. He can be over aggressive at times, but makes more plays than he gives up when anticipating.
Ball Skills
Wilson capitalizes on the opportunities his instincts create for him with good hands and concentration to secure the football. He has strong hands and wins in tough situations where he is fighting the receiver for the ball. Wilson puts himself in good position to make the play and has the balance, body control and leaping ability to finish the play.
Run Support / Tackling
Wilson’s instincts and feel for where the play is going shows up on run defense as well. He takes good angles and closes on the ball carrier in a hurry. Wilson is a big hitter who arrives and stops ball carriers in their tracks. He does a good job of leading with his shoulder and delivers impact hits, without risking a targeting penalty.
Projection
Kamari Wilson is the complete package at the safety position. He is a high level athlete with the instincts and physicality to dominate at the position. He is already an advanced player who has the tools to become one of the best safeties in college football.
