Myles Rowser: Scouting Report
Size
Myles Rowser has above average height for a college safety. He is solidly built and has the frame to continue to add good weight as he matures. Rowser looks the part of a physical safety who can play in the box. He will continue to get stronger and his size will be a plus at the position.
Athleticism
Rowser has above average speed and can play over the top of the defense. He displays solid lateral agility as well, showing the ability to change directions in pursuit or coverage. Rowser has excellent burst and acceleration, allowing him to close on plays in a flash and breakup passes or make plays on the ball carrier.
Coverage Skills
Rowser shows a good understanding of coverage schemes and not only plays his role well, but also helps cover open areas around him. He shows good discipline and waits for the play to develop, not allowing the offense to get him out of position. In man coverage, Rowser needs to work on his footwork and flipping his hips quicker, but has the burst to close on the throw and make the play.
Ball Skills
Rowser has a good feel for the ball and where it will be thrown. He anticipates well and has the hands to convert interception opportunities. Rowser displays good leaping ability and can win in jump-ball settings. He is physical in coverage and will fight through contact to make the play in contested situations.
Run Support / Tackling
Rowser is an aggressive run defender who gets downhill quickly. He recognizes plays well and closes on the ball carrier fast and physical. Rowser is always ready to deliver a big hit and does not shy away from contact. He has the strength and savvy to sift through traffic in pursuit of the football.
Projection
Myles Rowser is a physical safety who has the size and attitude to be an impact player at the second level. He shows good instincts and the innate ability to make big plays. Rowser is a good athlete, whose size and instincts will help him develop into a starter for an upper echelon power five team.
