Kevin Coleman: Scouting Report

WR Rank: —
Team: Undecided
Class: 2022
Size

Kevin Coleman is not a big receiver prospect. He is not as tall as most outside receivers and is still a thin prospect. He has added some weight but will never get too big. While he is not big, he does have good length for his size and can extend and make catches.

Athleticism

Coleman is an explosive prospect who has the ability to go from zero to sixty in the blink of an eye. He has good long speed and is difficult to catch from behind. He is a sudden athlete, that changes directions with little wasted motion and is back up to speed quickly.

Route Running

Coleman creates separation fairly easily with his quickness and change of direction skills. He is difficult to match up with in space and gets open coming out of his breaks. He does a good job of setting up his routes, but could add some nuance and polish to his route running at the next level. Coleman can attack the defense at all depths of the field and is difficult to prepare for.

Ball Skills

Coleman catches the ball cleanly, plucking it out of the air with his hands naturally. He tracks the deep ball well, angling himself underneath the ball and putting himself in good position to win the ball. Coleman plays bigger than his size, using his leaping ability to win in jump ball situations. He also shows the ability to take a hit and secure the catch.

Run After Catch

Coleman’s short area quickness makes him difficult to square up with the ball in his hands. He has good balance and does a good job of keeping his feet after contact. Additionally, he has a good feel for space, making good decisions with the ball and finding creases to pick up big yardage. He will need to improve his ball security at the next level.

Projection

Kevin Coleman is a sudden athlete who is difficult to cover one on one. He has the ball skills and toughness to capitalize on his explosive athleticism. With a good blend of athletic ability, instincts and football savvy, he will become an all conference type performer in college.
