Keanu Williams: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Keanu Williams committed to Oregon, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Keanu Williams has a sturdy, stocky build that does not appear to have much room left to fill out despite his height (6’5″). He is a physical player that uses his power to push blockers back at this level. There are limitations athletically as Williams possesses average change of direction skills and decent closing speed. Williams plays everywhere upfront from nose tackle to a traditional edge player and projects as three or five technique in college.

With great quickness at the snap, he is able to get lineman on their heels and execute an impressive swim move to get by them. His pad level is inconsistent on film, sometimes great and at others he gets too high far too quickly. Although he is comfortable using a swim move, he will need to develop more pass rush moves to make an impact at the next level. Williams plays with excellent energy and effort in pursuit and does not give up on plays. Keanu Williams is a good defensive line prospect who should be a power five starter on a Top 30 team.
