Kamren Kinchens: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Kamren Kinchens committed to Miami, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Kamren Kinchens is an instinctual safety who is a playmaker on the back end of the defense. He has an excellent feel for the game and understands what the offense is trying to do which allows him to find the play. He is an intelligent player who recognizes what the offense is doing quickly and reacts well to it. Kinchens is rarely out of position and because of his instincts and quick diagnosis is able to cover a lot of area in the secondary. He has excellent ball skills and is able to track the ball, high point it, and secure the interception consistently.
Against the run, Kinchens recognizes plays quickly and takes good angles to the football. He does a good job of finding gaps to sift through to reach the ball carrier. He does a decent job of disengaging blockers and fighting through to make the play. He has average height for a college safety but is a well built prospect. Kinchens is a solid tackler but arrives high sometimes and could be more consistent is his technique. He has average speed for a safety and could stand to improve in this area. Kinchens is a better player in zone or as a center fielder than he is in man coverage. Overall, he is a good prospect who understands the game and makes big plays. Kamren Kinchens will be a good college safety, who can be a starter on the back line for a power five team.
