Size
Kaden Saunders is a smaller receiver prospect. He has below average height for a receiver and a slim build. He is a compact prospect who packs some strength on his frame but is not likely to get much bigger. Saunders’ size is not his strength but he makes up for it in other areas of his game.
Athleticism
Saunders is an excellent athlete who has the speed, acceleration and lateral agility to make big plays consistently. He is able to run past defenders and pull away in the open field and has the change of direction ability to make defenders miss in traffic. Saunders has the fast twitch athleticism that makes him difficult to contain.
Route Running
Saunders’ athleticism allows him to create separation with ease. He has the speed, burst and suddenness to create space and get open. He is a solid route runner who will improve as he adds polish and learns to set defenders up to create even more space. Saunders athleticism will make it easy for him to continue to improve on the nuances of the position and become a more dangerous receiver.
Ball Skills
Saunders does a good job of tracking the ball and adjusting to poorly thrown passes to make the play. He plays bigger than his size would indicate, using his leaping ability and timing to win in jump ball situations. Saunders does a good job of framing the ball and not letting it get into his body when possible. He regularly wins in contested situations and is a reliable target in the passing game.
Run After Catch
Saunders is difficult to tackle with the ball in his hands. He has elite quickness and can change directions and gets back up to top speed quickly, making it difficult for defenders to get an angle on him. Saunders maintains his athleticism with the ball in his hands and is a threat to turn a short pass into a big gain on every play.
Projection
Kaden Saunders is a lightning quick receiver prospect who is a big play threat at all times. He is more than just a speed demon, showing good ball skills and the ability to make tough plays in traffic. Saunders athleticism and skill will help him become a starter on an upper echelon power five team.
