Junior Colson: A Quick Look at What the Wolverines are Getting
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Junior Colson committed to Michigan, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Junior Colson is a former wide receiver who has switched to linebacker and it shows in his athleticism. He has good speed for the position ranging from sideline to sideline. Colson changes directions well and has good burst to close on the play. He has a solid frame and should continue to add good weight to his frame. He probably will never be a big inside linebacker, but he should fit in perfectly as a coverage linebacker. Colson uses his athleticism well in coverage, covering a lot of ground and using his speed, agility and leaping ability to make plays on the ball. He is a solid tackler and cleans plays up well. Colson will need to get better at taking on blockers and disengaging blockers at the next level. He is not a traditional thumper at the linebacker spot but is a sound tackler and with his speed could become a big hitter. Junior Colson should excel at Michigan as an outside linebacker who can be an asset in coverage.
