Jamon Dumas-Johnson: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Jamon Dumas-Johnson committed to Georgia, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Jamon Dumas-Johnson is a sideline to sideline linebacker who makes plays all over the field. He is a well built prospect who has the strength to hold up at middle linebacker but the speed to play on the outside as well. He plays with good speed and explosion ranging from sideline to sideline and closing on ball carriers in a hurry. Dumas-Johnson does an excellent job of taking good angles and rarely get himself out of position, even when he is put in conflict on defense. He reads the play well and reacts quickly to get down hill and make the play. Dumas-Johnson sifts through traffic well with his strength and quickness to get to the ball carrier. He is a good tackler who delivers a good hit when he arrives at the football. In coverage, Dumas-Johnson has good instincts and mobility. He is comfortable in his drops and covers well downfield. Dumas-Johnson does not have any major weaknesses in his game, he is not a tall prospect and doesn’t have ideal length but is big enough and strong enough to play the position. He is so quick and strong that he does not need to shed blocks often, but we expect he will develop this part of his game with coaching and experience. Overall Dumas-Johnson is a complete linebacker who can do anything needed at the position. Jamon Dumas-Johnson will be an excellent college linebacker who has the potential to be an all conference type performer at the collegiate level.
