Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Jalil Farooq is a well rounded athlete with big play ability. He has the size and build college teams look for at the receiver position. Farooq has good speed, change of direction skills and acceleration. He gets open with his athletic ability and is a reliable pass catcher. Farooq shows the ability to make difficult catches and has the body control to adjust to the football. He is at his best with the ball in his hands, he has the athleticism to make defenders miss in tight spaces and turn a short pass into a big gain.

Farooq’s running ability is an asset in the run game and in the return game. His versatility allows the offense to get him the ball in creative ways and utilize his game breaking ability. Farooq does need to clean up his route running, sharpening his breaks and setting up defenders better. He is such a good athlete he can create separation with just his athleticism in high school but improved route running will help against better defensive backs at the next level. Overall, Farooq is a high level athlete who has all the tools needed at the receiver position. Jalil Farooq is a quality flanker or slot prospect who, as he develops the nuances of the position will be a starter for a power five team.
