Jake Rubley: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. At the beginning of the year, Jake Rubley committed to Kansas State, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Jake Rubley is a good quarterback prospect. He has good size with the ability to add more strength to his frame. Rubley has good arm strength and uses it best when he is consistent in his mechanics. Rubley has good mechanics overall but needs to be consistent with his footwork. He needs to remain mechanically sound outside the pocket to be better at making throws on the move. Rubley has good accuracy but can sail the ball from time to time. He throws with good anticipation making timely throws to get completions to receivers who are otherwise covered.
Rubley takes a few too many chances with the football but it is common for a high school star to always try to make the play. He is not a scrambler or a great athlete when running, but he is a willing and capable runner who picks up surprising gains on the ground. Jake Rubley has a good chance to be a good college player at the quarterback position but if he cleans up the inconsistencies in his game he could be a star.
