Jaheim Singletary: Scouting Report
Size
Jaheim Singletary has good height and excellent length at cornerback. He has started to bulk up but still has room to add good weight to his frame. Singletary will have the blend of height, length and strength to match-up with most college receivers.
Athleticism
Singletary shows good athleticism on the football field. He has good short area quickness and is able to close on plays quickly and effectively. He also changes directions well, whether in man coverage or to make a play on a ball thrown in his area. Singletary has good long speed as well, and can run step for step with most receivers downfield.
Hips/Technique
Singletary has excellent footwork in coverage, helping him to lock receivers up in man coverage. He uses his hands well at the line of scrimmage and re-routes receivers effectively. Singletary has good hips and can transition efficiently in coverage, he will have to maintain this flexibility as he bulks up. He is effective in various techniques and understands how to maximize his physical tools.
Ball Skills
Singletary displays elite ball skills in coverage. He has a good feel for when the ball is coming, finds it quickly and has the balance and body control to adjust to it and make a play. Singletary has good leaping ability and times his jumps well to high point the ball over receivers. He is physical in contested situations and wins contested balls against receivers more often than not.
Physicality/Tackling
Tackling is a strength for Singletary, he wraps up well and is effective in space. He has good instincts and feels his way through traffic efficiently to make the play. Singletary is a tough match-up for receivers as well, as he uses his length and size to be physical at the line of scrimmage and downfield.
Projection
Jaheim Singletary has a good blend of size, speed, instincts and ball skills. He also understands how to transfer those various tools into game settings and make plays on the football field. Singletary has the skill set and technique to quickly develop into one of the best cornerbacks in the country.
