Isaiah Brevard: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Isaiah Brevard committed to Oregon, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a scouting report based on his film.
Isaiah Brevard is a big, physical receiver who uses his size to dominate smaller defensive backs. Brevard is a tall receiver with an excellent frame to continue to get bigger and stronger. He is a major threat in jump ball situations where he used his size and length to snatch the ball out of the air before defensive backs have a shot at it. He tracks the ball well downfield and has strong hands, catching the ball naturally away from his body and then tucking it away. Brevard does a good job of getting position underneath the coverage and providing his quarterback with a big target. He shields the ball with his body and uses his length and hands to catch the ball in contested catch situations. He is a load to tackle after the catch and fights through tacklers for extra yardage. His physical style of play is evident when he is asked to block as well, he is a willing and at times overpowering blocker at the high school level. Brevard has decent long speed but will need work to get faster at the next level. He needs to get better at gearing down and accelerating back up to speed in and out of his breaks to create separation. Overall, Brevard is a big receiver who creates mismatches on the outside for the offense. Isaiah Brevard will be a matchup problem at the college level, he will be a starter at the power five level and an excellent receiver in the redzone.
