Hunter Washington: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Hunter Washington has committed to Florida State. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Hunter Washington is a quick cornerback who is a fluid athlete. He has average height for the position and a slender frame. Washington has the side to side agility to cover receivers in space and is quick to react to the play in front of him. He anticipates plays well and breaks on the ball quickly to break up the pass or make the hit. Washington has good short area explosiveness and can start and stop quickly in coverage. He is big enough to play outside, but also has the quickness to be an asset in the slot.

Washington may not be big, but he is a willing hitter who takes on blockers and attacks ball carriers. Washington gets low and takes down larger ball carriers effectively. Washington does not have the elite speed that some of the top cornerbacks possess, but he has enough speed to be effective at the position. Overall, Washington is a quick and instinctive cornerback that can play inside or on the perimeter. Hunter Washington has the hips and quickness to be a successful college cornerback will be a starter for a power five team.
