Hudson Wolfe: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Hudson Wolfe committed to Tennessee, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Hudson Wolfe is a very tall prospect with a slender build that should fill out tremendously with added muscle. Wolfe is comfortable lining up as an H-back behind the line of scrimmage and in the slot as a wide receiver. Wolfe is a very willing blocker and shows the aggressiveness needed to succeed as the competition level rises. There are times when he leans too far with his upper body while blocking but this may be a result of having to block players that are much shorter than him. He understands how to uses his tremendous reach and keeps driving his feet to finish blocks.

As a receiver, Wolfe does a good job of catching the ball with his hands and plucking the ball out of the air. There is limited footage of him catching jump balls over defenders, as he often does not need to against his current competition, but will be an area to monitor in the future. Wolfe may not be particularly quick or top end fast, but he is certainly not a slow player either. We are not talking about the smoothest looking receiving prospect but this is a player with a lot of tools to be a versatile tight end at the next level.
