BYU will visit Coastal Carolina in an unexpected showdown between undefeated teams this Saturday at 5:30. BYU is 9 – 0 and has won big in all but one of their games this year. Coastal Carolina is also 9 – 0 with wins against Louisiana and Appalachian State highlighting their ledger. Both teams are trying to climb as high as possible in the CFP rankings as group of five teams. This game gives them both a chance to pickup a huge win to add to their resume.

What To Watch For…
Any chance that Coastal Carolina can slowdown Zach Wilson?
BYU quarterback Zach Wilson is having an incredible season that has seen him vault into the Heisman race and near the top of draft boards. He has completed over 74 percent of his passes for 2,724 yards and 26 touchdowns with just 2 interceptions. He is a mobile quarterback who can do damage when he scrambles out of the pocket. Wilson’s poise this year has been very impressive, he is in complete control of the offense quickly finding the right reads and delivering accurate passes. Coastal Carolina has not faced a quarterback the caliber of Wilson this year, but the Chanticleers do have the best scoring defense in the Sun Belt conference, allowing just 16.8 points per game. They have more interceptions (11) than touchdown passes against this year. This is a defense that has played well this year and will attempt to derail Wilson’s Heisman campaign on Saturday evening.
Is Grayson McCall good enough to keep pace?
Coastal Carolina has a prolific quarterback of their own in redshirt freshman Grayson McCall. The talented signal caller has been excellent this season, completing over 67 percent of his passes for 1,747 yards and 20 touchdowns against 1 interception. McCall is a willing and capable runner who has gained 365 yards on the ground. McCall has risen to the challenge every week and led his team past the opposition, but this will be his toughest test of the year. Not only does he have to outscore Wilson and the BYU offense, he has to do it against one of the best defenses in the country. The Cougars are ranked fourth in the country in scoring defense, allowing just 13.9 points per game on the season. They shutdown a talented Boise State offense last month en route to a blowout win. BYU has not allowed over 26 points this season, Coastal Carolina will likely have to break that number to win this game.
Does Tyler Allgeier have a big day?
BYU’s sophomore running back, Tyler Allgeier, is having a productive season as well. He leads the way for a powerful running game that balances out the BYU offense and makes it difficult to lock in on Wilson. Allgeier is an explosive back that can quickly burst through a hole and turn a nice run into a long touchdown. He has 851 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns this season on just 118 carries and is quickly closing in on a 1,000 yard season. Coastal Carolina’s defense has been good this year, but did struggle defending the run against Louisiana and Appalachian State. If Allgeier is able to get loose and balance out the BYU attack it will be tough for the Chanticleers to get stops against BYU.
Prediction
Both teams are going to score points this game. BYU’s offense is too balanced to be completely bottled up and they will put pressure on Coastal Carolina to keep pace. McCall and the Chanticleers will attempt to keep pace and may succeed for a while, but BYU will pull away in the second half. BYU 41 Coastal Carolina 28.
