Evan Stewart: Scouting Report

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6vYlgR-rsE
WR Rank: —
Team: Texas A&M
Class: 2022
Size

Evan Stewart has average size for a college receiver. He has adequate height but will not be a mismatch on the outside against most corners. Stewart has a slim build, that has some potential to fill out, but is a leaner athlete. He is not a small receiver by any stretch and can play outside or in the slot.

Athleticism

Stewart has big play speed that few can match. He has excellent acceleration and is nearly impossible to catch once he hits his stride. Stewart is a good athlete overall and has the lateral quickness to change directions suddenly. Stewart is one of fastest athletes in the class, making him a tough match-up for defenses.

Route Running

Stewart has the speed and burst to separate from defenders. His speed allows him to get open deep or across the field and also forces defenders to give a big cushion, which allows him to break off routes for shorter catches. As he becomes a more advanced route runner he will be able to leverage defensive backs to create even more separation on his intermediate routes.

Ball Skills

Stewart catches the ball cleanly and with his hands. He tracks the ball well on the deep ball and adjusts his path to run under the ball. He has good body control and will adjust to a poorly thrown ball and make plays in coverage. Stewart is a good leaper and does not shy away from contact, showing the ability to win in jump ball situations.

Run After Catch

Stewart is explosive with the ball in his hands and makes it difficult for defenders to get a good angle on him. He is fast and makes quick cuts that allow him to make defenders miss without giving much ground. Stewart is difficult to tackle one on one and makes big plays after the catch regularly.

Projection

Evan Stewart is a speedy receiver who also has the skills to be a well rounded receiver. He will be a big play threat on every play, creating space for the entire offense to operate. His speed, ball skills and run after the catch ability will help him become an all conference type performer in college.
