Domani Jackson: Scouting Report
Size
Domani Jackson has good height for the cornerback position. He is a well built prospect for the position and plays with good strength. Jackson has the size and physicality to match-up with bigger receivers and to be disruptive at the line of scrimmage.
Athleticism
Jackson has all of the athletic traits needed to succeed at corner. He has great top end speed to stick with receivers downfield or to chase down plays from the opposite side of the field. He is a quick twitch athlete who shows good burst and has the ability to change directions quickly. Jackson is a top notch athlete who should excel at cornerback.
Hips/Technique
Jackson has the smooth transition skills to play man coverage against receivers. He has good technique for a player that has recently switched to the defensive side of the ball. Jackson also has good make-up speed and can quickly erase separation to make a play on the ball. He uses his hands well and is comfortable playing press coverage or giving a cushion and closing on plays in front of him.
Ball Skills
Jackson’s experience playing offense shows when the ball is in the air. He does a good job of tracking the ball and shows good timing on his jumps to make a play on the ball. Jackson finds the football quickly and has the quick hands to make a play on the football. He has good hands and finishes plays with interceptions where others may only be able to deflect the pass. Jackson has excellent ball skills and can make big plays for the defense consistently.
Physicality/Tackling
Jackson is a physical player who does not shy away from contact. He is rough with receivers at the line of scrimmage and can disrupt the timing of the route before it begins. He is aggressive taking on blockers and has the speed and acceleration to close on the ball carries and make tackles in space.
Projection
Domani Jackson is an excellent athlete who has all of the physical tools needed to excel at cornerback. He is already showing good technique and will only get better with experience. Jackson is well on his way to becoming one of the best cornerbacks in college football.
