Denver Harris: Scouting Report
Size
Denver Harris has good height and length for a cornerback. He is a streamlined athlete who has an excellent frame that will continue to fill out. Harris is a prototypical outside cornerback from a size perspective. He is already strong enough to redirect receivers and win at the line of scrimmage.
Athleticism
Harris demonstrates the speed and acceleration needed to cover receivers downfield or across the field in man coverage. He can change directions effortlessly and gives little ground in and out of breaks. Harris is a well rounded athlete that has the physical traits needed to excel in coverage.
Hips/Technique
Harris has good feet and mirrors receivers very well in coverage. He has excellent flexibility and is able to change directions efficiently in coverage. He is effective with his jams and has the turn and run ability needed to cover after the receiver gets off the jam. Harris is solid with his back pedal and has the burst to break on plays in front of him.
Ball Skills
Harris shows the ability to high point the ball and hands to complete the play. He tracks the ball well downfield, especially when the throw is in front of him. He needs to get better at locating the ball quickly when his back is to the quarterback in man coverage. Harris has the body control and leaping ability to make plays on jump balls downfield.
Physicality/Tackling
Harris’ size and physical ability translate well when he jams defenders at the line of scrimmage. He is strong enough to redirect receivers and disrupt the timing of the passing game. He is equally adept fighting off blocks and making plays on the ball carrier. Harris is a good tackler who is an asset in run support.
Projection
Denver Harris is straight out of central casting for an elite college cornerback. He will be a tough match-up for most receivers at the next level. His size, athleticism and instincts will allow help him develop into one of the best cornerbacks in the country.
