Damarius McGhee: Scouting Report

Damarius McGhee is an excellent athlete who projects as a cornerback but will need to hone his skills at the next level. He has a slight frame but enough height and length to excel at the position. McGhee is an excellent athlete, with big play speed that allows him to cover a lot of ground in the secondary and make big plays on offense. He is also excellent in short areas showing explosive quickness and the fluidity to change directions quickly. McGhee demonstrates good ball skills as a receiver and defensive back in high school, doing a good job of tracking the ball and timing his jumps. He has the length to play on the perimeter, but also has the quickness to play against the quicker receivers in the slot.

McGhee may not be very big now, but he has some room to add weight and is a willing tackler. He plays the game with a competitive edge and doesn’t shy away from contact. McGhee plays all over the field in high school but should be able to hone his technique when he settles on a position in college. Overall, McGhee needs to add strength, but he is an excellent athlete that has the look of a high end corner prospect. Damarius McGhee is an athletic cornerback who makes plenty of big plays and will be a starter on an upper echelon power five team.
