Cody Brown: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year we will review the film of some of the top prospects and give you a breakdown of what we see. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape on Cody Brown to give you a scouting report based on his film.

Cody Brown is a muscularly built, sturdy, and powerful looking back. There is limited room for further development on his frame, as Brown appears college ready from a physical standpoint. He plays closer to the ground, and uses his balance and very good lateral agility to make defenders miss. He is easily one of the more powerful runners in the recruiting cycle and is able to run over defenders and get past arm tackles. Brown has a good burst at the line of scrimmage and good speed in the open field.

Brown demonstrates great vision and is able to hit the designed hole as well as the backside cutback. He possesses some impressive patience and timing, allowing the play to develop before hitting the running lane. Brown is a natural ball carrier and plays the position with smooth athleticism and natural intuition. He is at his best on runs in-between the tackles but not as fast as you would like on plays to the outside. Brown is primarily utilized as a runner and will need to show reliability as a pass catcher out of the backfield. Cody Brown is an impressive running back, that has the power, vision, balance, and natural ability to produce as a multi-year starter for an upper tier power five program.
