Penn State Nittany LionsRecruit Scouting Reports

Christian Veilleux: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year we will review the film of some of the top prospects and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Christian Veilleux committed to Penn State, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Christian Veilleux is an accurate passer who plays with composure. He has above average height for the quarterback position and the frame to add bulk. Veilleux has great accuracy and touch on his passes resulting in a very catchable ball that his receivers are in position to run with. He reads the defense well and anticipates coverage allowing him to throw on time and create yardage after the catch for his receivers. Veilleux has good footwork and appears to be well coached at the position. He has a solid release but could clean up his windup a bit.

Veilleux may not be a scrambler but he is not a statue in the pocket either, showing good burst and wiggle while running. He can escape the pass rush and pick up yardage when needed. Veilleux has average arm strength for a college quarterback bit it doesn’t limit him because he anticipates so well. He will also need to add strength in college but has the frame to do so quickly. When on the move he will need to be consistent in his throwing mechanics. Overall, he is an advanced passer for his age who will continue to develop his craft. Christian Veilleux is an accurate signal caller who anticipates the game well, he will be a good college player who is a starter at for a top half of the power five team.
