Brock Vandagriff: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Earlier this year, Brock Vandagriff committed to Georgia, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Brock Vandagriff is a good all around player who can hurt the defense in many ways. He has good arm strength and is capable of making all the necessary throws at the college level. In addition to good arm strength he also has good accuracy on underneath throws allowing him to pick apart a defense. Vandagriff has a quick release and solid throwing mechanics but sometimes does not maintain his footwork. He is better when throwing with velocity but does show the ability to put some touch on his throws when needed. Throwing from the pocket is only part of Vandagriff’s game, he is equally capable throwing on the move, whether repositioning in the pocket or when scrambling outside the pocket.
Once on the move, Vandagriff shows off his good athleticism, he has the speed to pick up good yardage with his legs. He is fairly agile and accelerates well and can take advantage when the defense loses contain. He is not a tall quarterback but has good size at the position and is strong enough to break tackles while running. There are a few areas of his game that he could stand to improve. Vandagriff tends to get off balance on some throws, and needs to maintain his balance and footwork to be more accurate on deep throws. He is careless with the football while moving around and needs to keep two hands on the ball or tuck the ball away or he will be fumble prone at the next level. Vandagriff has good natural ability and a complete skill set. Brock Vandagriff will be a star at the collegiate level and should be among the best quarterbacks in the country.
