Bobby Taylor: Scouting Report
Size
Bobby Taylor has good height and length at the cornerback position. He has a good frame to fill out as he develops physically. He has the strength to be physical with bigger receivers. Taylor’s height and frame are an obvious strength and will allow him to match-up with most receivers in college.
Speed/Quickness
Taylor has good speed and can run with receivers downfield or on crossing routes. He shows the ability to accelerate out of his back pedal and close on plays in front of him quickly. He has solid lateral agility when changing directions on the fly. Overall, Taylor fits the athletic profile of an outside cornerback.
Hips/Technique
Taylor has the ability to flip his hips in coverage and run with faster receivers. He is still filling out and will need to maintain his flexibility and fluidity as he gets stronger. Taylor has quick feet and does a good job of mirroring receivers with minimal wasted motion. Taylor shows the ability to play in press coverage and playing off-coverage with a cushion.
Ball Skills
Taylor tracks the ball well in the air and puts himself in good position to make a play on the ball. He has good leaping ability, which with his size and length makes it tough to get balls over him. He is not always clean catching the ball, though he does show the ability to adjust to the ball and make the interception.
Physicality/Tackling
Taylor has no problem being physical with receivers at the line of scrimmage. He is effective fighting through blocks on the perimeter against screens and running plays. Taylor is a sound tackler who will deliver a big hit when possible.
Projection
Bobby Taylor has the height and length to be a complete cornerback. He has the frame, physicality and athleticism to develop into a good player on the perimeter who could start for an upper echelon power five team.
