Alijah Clark: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Alijah Clark has committed to Rutgers. Today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Alijah Clark is a long and lean corner back prospect with good speed and burst. He has good height and length at corner and the frame to fill out and get stronger. Clark has good straight line speed, allowing him to keep pace with faster receivers down field. He has good acceleration and is able to get out of his stance quickly and close on the play in a hurry. Clark anticipates the play well and has the ball skills to high point the ball and make big plays for his defense. He is athletic and elusive with the ball in his hands and can make big plays once he has the ball.
Clark recognizes plays well for a young player and is in good position pre-snap. He does a good job of staying disciplined and not over-pursuing and is a willing tackler who does not hesitate to close on running plays or short passes in front of him. He has the length and willingness to fight through blocks and make the play. Clark will need to continue to work on his consistency as a tackler against better ball carriers at the next level. He should only improve in run support as he gets stronger and works on his technique. His coverage skills are good, but he does rely on his athleticism at times and will need to work on his technique and eliminate any wasted movement. Overall, Clark has the length, speed and frame to be an outside corner in college. Alijah Clark is a physical cornerback with the speed and athleticism to become a starter at the power five level.
