AJ Green: A Quick Look At What The Razorbacks Are Getting
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, AJ Green committed to Arkansas, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
AJ Green is fast, explosive football player. He is not a big running back but has enough size to play the position. Green’s calling card is his speed and acceleration which he has in spades. Green is the fastest player on the field just about every time he takes the field. He has the ability to reach top speed very quickly and leaves defenders grasping at air. He has adequate side to side agility and can make defenders miss but is better at accelerating away from the defense. Green shows good receiving skills out of the backfield and can be dangerous in the passing game as well. He has adequate strength for the position but is not a powerful runner. Green breaks tackles more with his speed and acceleration than his strength or pad level. He will need to get better at maintaining good pad level through his runs to help him run better between the tackles. Green also needs to get better at recognizing running lanes, as he tends to bounce runs to the outside when there are lanes available inside. Overall Green is a great athlete with high upside. AJ Green has all the tools to be a big play threat at running back for the Razorbacks.
