Tyler Morris: Scouting Report
Size
Tyler Morris has average height for a wide receiver prospect. He is a bit on the thinner side but has time to grow into his frame some as he develops. Morris has enough size to play on the outside, but could also excel as a slot receiver. He has some versatility and can perform in multiple roles.
Athleticism
Morris has some speed and can take the proverbial top off the defense. He excels when changing directions, showing the lateral quickness and fluidity to create space on the football field. Morris plays with good burst and has the acceleration to get up to speed quickly.
Route Running
Morris has the quickness to create space in the secondary and is able to separate from defensive backs effectively. He can be more consistent with his routes when setting up defenders, but has the feet and agility to get open. Morris has good spatial awareness, finding the holes in the coverage and getting open downfield.
Ball Skills
Morris is exceptional when tracking the ball. He has excellent body control and adjusts to the ball very well. He has good leaping ability and a large catch radius, allowing him to make tough contested catches. Morris’ ball skills help him play bigger than he is, climbing the ladder and coming down with jump-balls over defensive backs.
Run After Catch
Morris is a shifty runner with the ball in his hands, making him tough to tackle one on one in space. His lateral quickness is difficult to deal with after the catch, leading to big plays. Morris has the burst and speed to turn some of those missed tackles he forces into scores and consistently picks up extra yardage.
Projection
Tyler Morris is a versatile weapon who can do a bit of everything for the offense. He is a big play threat with excellent ball skills and the run after the catch ability to turn short passes into big plays. Morris has big play potential and can be a starter for an upper echelon power five team.
