True Freshmen Mountain 2020: November 25 Update
The True Freshmen Mountain is our way of tracking the impact college football’s newcomers are having. It’s like the game, King of the Mountain, the player on the top is King, and everyone else is doing their best to knock him off the peak. We will update the list every week adding in the performances from that week. The mountain is based on a players performance for the season. We are judging players based on their production, the level of competition they performed against and the eye test. To see last week’s true freshmen mountain click here.
King Of The Mountain
Malachi Moore – Alabama
Stats: 31 Tak 3 TFL 6 PBU 2 Int 1 FF 1 FR 1 TD
Alabama demolished Kentucky 63 – 3 last weekend. Moore made 3 tackles in the game but was not really tested much. He was good in coverage and helped limit a usually proficient Kentucky running game. Moore’s playmaking ability was not needed as Alabama was never threatened in this game.
Top Challengers
Myles Murphy – Clemson
Season Stats: 27 tackles 8.5 TFL 3.5 Sacks 2 fumble forced, 1 QB Hurry
Clemson had an unexpected bye this week so Murphy did not have a chance to add to his impressive season. No one did enough to warrant jumping Murphy on the mountain and he keeps his spot.
Stats: 92 car 527 yds 5 TD / 11 rec 84 yds / 13 KR 306 yds
Tank Bigsby left the game against Tennessee with what has been called a “lower body injury”. He had 3 carries for 24 yards before he was forced out of the game.
Closing In On The Top Group
DJ Uiagalelei – Clemson
Stats: 71/104 883 yds 4 TD 0 Int / 27 car 59 yds 4 TD
Lke Murphy, Uiagalelei was also off this past weekend because Clemson had a bye week. He stayed put on the mountain.
Jordan Addison – Pittsburgh
Stats: 52 rec 611 yds 3 TD / 7 Car 53 yds / 2 PR 15 yds / 2 KR 39 yds
Addison was out for Pittsburgh against Virginia Tech but stayed put in his spot on the mountain.
Peter Skoronski – Northwestern
Stats: 4 starts at Left Tackle
Skoronski had a solid performance in Northwestern’s win against Wisconsin. He wasn’t as dominant as he has been at times this season, but considering the quality of the opponent this was still a good showing. He has proven he is a cornerstone to build on in the future for the Wildcats.
On The Slope
Jalen Berger – Wisconsin
Stats: 30 car 180 yards 1 TD / 2 rec 13 yards
Berger followed up his strong debut with another good showing on the ground. Wisconsin wasn’t able to get into a rhythm against a good Northwestern defense, but Berger was productive, running for 93 yards on just 15 carries. Berger is quickly proving he should be a big part of the Wisconsin offense moving forward.
Noah Sewell – Oregon
Stats: 13 Tak 3 TFL 2 Sacks 1 FF
Sewell has made an immediate impact for the Ducks. He has had at least 4 tackles and 1 tackles for loss in each game this season. Against UCLA, he recorded 5 tackles, 1 sack and forced a fumble to help the Ducks hold off the Bruins. Sewell is quickly developing into an impact player on Oregon’s defense.
Deuce Vaughn – Kansas State
Stats: 94 car 415 yds 4 TD / 18 rec 370 yds 1 TD
Kansas State struggled on offense and did not score against Iowa State. Vaughn only had 7 carries but did run for 44 yards. The Wildcats have struggled to move the ball lately and Vaughn has not had as many opportunities of late. Until the Wildcats find consistency at quarterback things will be tough for Vaughn.

The true freshmen mountain had more movement than last week but there were still quite a few cancellations and postponements this week. Players from the Big Ten and Pac 12 are starting to make their way into the discussion as well. We will revisit the true freshman mountain weekly to update the rankings as the season moves forward.
