Size
Travis Hunter has plus height for a cornerback. He is a slender prospect, but has the length to add good weight without getting too thick. Hunter is already tall enough to match-up with bigger receivers and should add the strength needed to be physical at the line of scrimmage.
Athleticism
Hunter is an excellent athlete, who has the proverbial bounce in his step. He is explosive and can gear up to top speed quickly. He has the long speed to run with faster receivers in man coverage and has elite change of direction skills. Hunter is able to shift gears and adjust to the ball with good balance and fluidity.
Hips/Technique
Hunter is a fluid athlete who has the hips to mirror receivers in coverage. He has solid technique and has the athleticism to quickly make up for any missteps in coverage. Hunter is excellent at keeping the receiver in front of him and playing the ball in the air. He is able to transition from his back pedal and break on the ball quickly and efficiently.
Ball Skills
Hunter has elite ball skills and shows them on both sides of the ball. He has good leaping ability and routinely high points the ball in traffic. Hunter has a sixth sense for the football and tracks it exceptionally. He has quick, soft hands that allow him to adjust to the football and make the catch even when the ball is already on him when he turns his head. Hunter has the ball skills to excel on either side of the ball.
Physicality/Tackling
Hunter does need to get stronger as he matures, but shows the willingness and attitude to be physical with receivers at the line of scrimmage. He closes on the football quickly, making him difficult to block on the edge and shows the ability to tackle in space on the perimeter.
Projection
Travis Hunter is an impressive athlete who has a knack for creating turnovers. He has elite physical tools and ball skills that allow him to star on both sides of the ball. Hunter has all of the skills needed to develop into one of the best cornerbacks in college football.
