Terrance Ferguson: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Terrance Ferguson committed to Oregon, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Terrance Ferguson is a tall, smooth athlete with a lanky frame that has plenty of room to add good weight at the next level. Ferguson is a versatile weapon for his team lining up in the backfield, at tight end, and split wide. Ferguson is a natural pass catcher that knows how to use his body to shield defenders away from the ball. He shows the ability to leap and high point the ball, maximizing his height advantage against smaller defenders. This is a player that can make difficult catches look easy and shows the ability to make plays in traffic in contested catch situations. Ferguson is a fluid player with above average speed and quickness for a pass catching tight end prospect. Although he shows an understanding of how to set up defenders, he will need to expand his route tree to be successful in college. Current competition level is a concern as he is clearly bigger, faster, and stronger than his opponents and is rarely, if ever, challenged from an athletic standpoint. Ferguson is a willing blocker, although not asked to block often as a traditional tight end, he has the frame to be successful in this regard. Terrance Ferguson is a very nice tight end prospect who will need some time to add strength and bulk to his frame but should develop into a good pass catching option.
