Terrance Brooks: Scouting Report
Size
Terrance Brooks has average height for a college cornerback, but has elite length. Brooks has a lean, athletic build with good strength. Brooks has enough size to match-up with outside receivers and his long arms helps erase any height advantage the receiver may have.
Athleticism
Brooks shows excellent functional athleticism on the football field. He has above average long speed, but seems to find another gear in pursuit. Brooks is very explosive in short areas and displays excellent acceleration. His change of direction skills are exceptional as well and allow him to shadow receivers in coverage.
Hips/Technique
Brooks has good hips and can turn and run with receivers efficiently. He uses his length effectively at the line of scrimmage and is effective in coverage. Brooks is strong playing off coverage as well and is explosive out of his back pedal. He has good feet and wastes little motion in coverage, displaying the ability to mirror receivers in man and close windows in zone.
Ball Skills
Brooks combines his good coverage skills with above average ball skills as well. He has an innate feel for when the ball is coming and is able to find it quickly to make the play. Brooks’ length helps him make plays on the ball in contested situations. He has sound hands and is a threat to make the interception and take the ball the other way.
Physicality/Tackling
Physicality is a key part of Brooks’ game. He is an aggressive defender who attacks blockers and is a good hitter against the run game. Brooks is a good tackler who is an asset in run support. His strength and physical style also helps him disrupt receivers at the line of scrimmage and throw off the timing of the passing game.
Projection
Terrance Brooks has elite length and a good athletic profile that makes him a tough match-up for receivers. He is adept at playing various coverage techniques and strong in run support. Brooks is a well rounded player who will develop into all conference type performer in college.
