Plays You Don’t Want To Miss: October 10, 2020
A quick run through of the best or worst plays of the weekend. College football gives us something remarkable every week, we are just making sure you don’t miss it. For last week’s videos click here.
Hand It Off To The Defensive End
Pittsburgh defensive end, Rashad Weaver beat the Boston College tackle and looks ready to make the sack, then he has a change of heart. Weaver decides he tackles the quarterback all the time, he wants to try his hand at running back and takes the ball out of the hands of the quarterback and gains about five yards on the power run up the middle.
The 110 Hurdles
We have seen several players hurdle defenders now, but the landing is rarely smooth. Of course, all-everything Clemson running back Travis Etienne is smooth and he sticks the landing nearly at full speed like an Olympic hurdler and darts through the defense and nearly scores.
Only Where His Guy Can Catch It
BYU is facing fourth and goal and down 3 – 0, Zach Wilson is chased to his right and as the sideline approaches has no one to throw to and nowhere to run it in for a score either. He floats a pass up high and in the back corner of the endzone to Neil Pau’u putting the ball where “only his receiver could catch it” and catch it Pau’u did, over two defenders and getting both feet down for a touchdown in any league.
When An Unstoppable Force…
Texas A&M is down four and facing fourth and two in the fourth quarter. Isaiah Spiller gets the call and finds an opening around the left end for a first down before being met by a Florida defender. Spiller powers up and knocks the defender off his feet, then with a burst of speed scores a go ahead touchdown, en route to the big win.
Cool This Guy Down
With Georgia leading 17 – 14 but Tennessee with the ball trying to tie the game or get a lead going into the half, Jarrett Guarantano scrambles for a couple yards but is shoved out of bounds. Receiver, George Pickens, attempts to help his defense out by cooling off Guarantano by squirting some water on him, unfortunately it costs the defense fifteen yards.
That’s How You Get A Name Like Charleston Rambo
Charelston Rambo is well covered and Tanner Mordecai probably never should have thrown this pass, but maybe he knows his receiver. The defensive back actually overruns the ball, reaches back and deflects it, but Rambo has done the tip drill many times, reaches backwards as he slides to a stop, tips the ball with his left hand and then secures the unbelievable catch.
Tecmo Bowl Anyone?
Anyone who played the classic Nintendo original “Tecmo Bowl” knows if you played with the Raiders, Bo Jackson was nearly impossible to tackle, he just bounced off would be tacklers continuing downfield. Saturday, Tank Bigsby did his best to make the Auburn alum proud as he bounced off would be tacklers and gained plenty of yards after contact.
