With the season underway players have had the opportunity to raise their stock and move up the rankings. Before we jump into Paris Johnson, here’s a few reminders about the rankings themselves
- The rankings will be updated throughout the season.
- Players who have not played college football are not eligible for the rankings.
- Players are graded on their college ability, not their pro potential.
- We are judging players on their film, production and physical tools.

Ohio State offensive tackles, Paris Johnson spent two years at guard and did a good job on the interior for the Buckeyes, but will kick out to tackle in 2022. He has been a people mover on the offensive line, clearing running lanes for a running attack that has averaged 5.5 yards per carry for the season. He has also been sound in pass protection, helping an Ohio State offensive line that only gave up 17 sacks in 13 games last year. Johnson adapted well to playing on the interior and he has become one of the best guards in college football last year.
At 6’6″ 315 lbs Johnson has excellent size and length. He has the long arms to get into the defensive players frame and keep them off balance. He gets low and is able to drive defenders out of the running lanes and creates a big hole for his running back to run through. Johnson has gotten stronger since arriving on campus and is able to anchor against bull rushers and hold his ground on the interior. He plays with good power, providing consistent push up front.
What sets Johnson apart is the phenomenal athleticism he has to go with that great frame. Johnson is as quick of an offensive lineman as there is and is able to get into his pass blocking sets with ease. He has the agility to mirror pass rushers that are trying to get him off balance and delivers a good punch with his base underneath him. Johnson uses that athleticism to get downfield as a blocker effectively, he can get to the second level in a hurry and is able to get on top of defenders quickly. That blend of size and athleticism makes Johnson a force on the offensive line.
Paris Johnson is already an excellent blocker, but is just scratching the surface of his potential. He still has a tendency to rely on his length too much at times, which can cause him to get handsy at times. His technique is advanced for a young player, but as he hones his skills, he will be a handful for any defensive lineman. Johnson has a bright future and has done enough to show that he is one of the best offensive lineman in college football this year.
