LB Rankings: Noah Sewell
With the season underway players have had the opportunity to raise their stock and move up the rankings. Before we jump into Noah Sewell, here’s a few reminders about the rankings themselves:
- The rankings will be updated throughout the season.
- Players who have not played college football are not eligible for the rankings.
- Players are graded on their college ability, not their pro potential.
- We are judging players on their film, production and physical tools.

Oregon linebacker, Noah Sewell made a big impact as a true freshman in 2020 and was expected to be a leader for the defense in 2021. Sewell has stepped into that role and took on even more responsibility with Justin Flowe out with an injury after one game. Nonetheless, he has thrived as a sophomore, making 42 tackles with 3 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 fumble forced and a QB hurry in five games this year. Sewell is difficult to miss on the field and his impact makes him one of the best linebackers in college football.
Sewell is a physically intimidating linebacker, checking in at 6’3″ 251 lbs. He plays with the power and strength that is expected from a player with that size. He delivers hits with impact, stopping runners cold in their tracks and limiting yardage after contact. Sewell holds his own against blockers as well, taking on offensive linemen head on and holding his ground. He uses his strength and hands well to disengage blockers and make the play on the ball carrier. Sewell looks the part of an inside the box linebacker and is excellent in that area, but can do so much more as well.
Sewell has quick feet for a player his size and plays the position with a high level of energy. He has good acceleration in pursuit and has the motor to keep pursuing through traffic, blockers and any other obstacles that present themselves. Sewell is an impressive athlete who can get outside and chase down plays that are designed to get outside of him. His athleticism and tenacity make Sewell a terrifying sight for opposing ball carriers, even when they are out in space.
Noah Sewell has an impressive physique and excellent athleticism at that size. He plays the game with a take no prisoners attitude and leaves his mark on every game he plays in. He has improved his play recognition, technique and added athleticism since his freshman year and continues to get better with each passing week. Sewell has an old school linebacker mentality, but athletically has the ability to play in the modern game. He is already among the best linebackers in the country and has as much upside as anyone.
