Latrell McCutchin: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Latrell McCutchin committed to Oklahoma, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.
Latrell McCutchin missed his junior season with a knee injury. His sophomore film shows a long, instinctive cornerback. McCutchin has good height to play on the outside, coupled with long arms and a good frame to add weight. He has good range in the secondary and excels in zone coverage. He has good instincts and range, which he puts to work finding the football and making plays. McCutchin has good ball skills and finishes the job by securing the interception. He is a capable defender in man coverage as well but is still raw in his technique. He has the speed to run with receivers downfield and the ability to flip his hips and track the receiver. McCutchin is a willing tackler and comes downhill aggressively against the run and on shorter pass plays. McCutchin will need to add strength at the the next level but has the frame to do that. He will also need to be more explosive in short spaces but appears to have the ability to develop that explosion as he matures physically. Overall, McCutchin is a tall, playmaking corner who could play a deep safety as well. Latrell McCutchin will be a good outside cornerback at the college level who will be a multi-year starter and could be an all conference type performer.
