Khamauri Rogers: Scouting Report
Size
Khamauri Rogers is a long prospect who has good height and a frame to continue to fill out. He needs to continue to add bulk, but has the frame to do so over the course of his career. Rogers has the size college coaches are looking for with an outside cornerback. He will be able to match-up with some of the bigger receivers in college football.
Athleticism
Rogers has good speed and excellent acceleration and closing ability. His change of direction ability is also above average and allows him to perform in man coverage. Rogers athleticism coupled with his size and leaping ability make him tough to beat in coverage. He is a good athlete who has the ability to stick at the cornerback position long term.
Hips/Technique
Rogers has smooth hips and transitions well in coverage. He has good burst coming out of his back pedal and is able to close on plays in front of him quickly. He can play man coverage but also sees plays developing well in zone and reacts quickly to make the play. Rogers is stout in coverage, but has room to hone his technique and continue to improve his cover skills.
Ball Skills
Rogers has good instincts for the football and displays this on offense and defense. He has a good sense of when the ball is coming and uses his length and leaping ability to make the play. Rogers wins in contested situations and has the strength and body control to make tough plays. He is definitely a ball hawk who can make big plays for the defense.
Physicality/Tackling
As he has filled out Rogers has shown the ability to deliver big hits in the secondary. He has the ability to diagnose what’s happening in front of him and close on the play quickly and deliver a big hit. He is a willing tackler, who does a good job of containing the edge at the corner position. As he fills out Rogers will only get more physical at the line of scrimmage.
Projection
Khamauri Rogers has an excellent frame for cornerback and has the athleticism needed to succeed at the position. His instincts and ball skills will help him become a playmaker in college. With a good blend of size, mobility and feel for the game Rogers will become a starter for an upper echelon power five team.
