Denzel Burke: Scouting Report

Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Recently, Denzel Burke committed to Ohio State, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film.

Denzel Burke stars on both sides of the ball in high school but will most likely play defensive back in college. Burke is a fluid athlete with good speed, agility and acceleration. He moves well, changes directions well and gets up to top speed quickly. Burke has good ball skills which should help him to make big plays in the secondary. He uses those athletic traits and ball skills well to make big plays as a receiver as well as a defensive back. He is a willing tackler, who anticipates plays well, beating blockers to the ball with his athleticism to make the play. Burke has quick feet and fluid hips, he should be able to play corner at the next level.

Burke is not a big player but has good length and decent height. He does need to add weight but has the frame to do so and should play around 200 lbs. Burke needs to work on his technique at corner as he is still raw at the position but shows the physical traits to pick up the position well. Denzel Burke has the ability to be a high quality corner for the Buckeyes who has the ability to play man or zone, or even a deep safety if need be.
