David Davidkov: Scouting Report
Recruiting is the life blood of a college football program. Every player added to the program is a new piece of the puzzle. It’s impossible to follow college football and ignore recruiting entirely. Throughout the year as players commit to their school of choice we will review their film and give you a breakdown of what we see. Earlier this year, David Davidkov committed to Iowa, today we will dive in and breakdown the tape to give you a quick scouting report based on his film
David Davidkov is an impressive looking offensive line prospect on film from a physical standpoint. He shows above average lateral quickness and footwork in the run game, particularly at the second level. If you are looking for a linemen who finishes his blocks, then Davidkov is your man. He is relentless once he locks on to a defender and does not stop driving until the opposition is on the ground. He clearly plays with an edge but Davidkov needs to be careful with his hand placement as he has a tendency to lock his hands outside of the defender’s numbers. He also needs to avoid leaning too far forward in the upper half when run blocking or he will lose his balance when trying to block next level defenders.
As a pass blocker, Davidkov does a better job of maintaining his balance and delivers a strong punch. His footwork is rarely tested at the high school level and appears to be an area he will need to improve on. Davidkov has a nice initial slide step but tends to get flat footed after his initial movements. David Davidkov is a very good looking prospect but has some correctable technical issues that will need to be cleaned up at the collegiate level. Although he plays left and right tackle for his team, we expect him to start out at guard and possibly develop into a right tackle as he improves his technique.
