Adepoju Adebawore: Scouting Report
Size
Adepoju Adebawore has solid height for a defensive end prospect, but it’s his length that stands out. He has a well built physique with little bad weight and room to continue to add good weight as he matures. He has the length and size to be either a pass rushing outside linebacker or a weak side defensive end.
Athleticism
Adebawore is an excellent athlete on the defensive line. He has a good get-off, gaining the advantage early and putting pressure on blockers quickly. Adebawore has excellent change of direction skills and the bend to turn the corner. He has good functional strength and enough speed to make plays in pursuit.
Pass Rushing Ability
Adebawore has the physical tools to be an excellent pass rusher. His initial burst puts pressure on offensive linemen and allows him to gain an advantage early. Adebawore has active hands and quick feet, helping him to disengage blockers effectively. He has work to do on his pass rushing technique, but shows the willingness to use his hands and the ability to improve in this area.
Run Defense
Adebawore has the strength and discipline to hold up against the run. He has a good understanding of how blockers are attempting to attack him and what his job is defensively. This allows Adebawore to make the right play and shut down run plays that maybe designed to get him out of position. He closes on the ball well with the burst and agility to make plays in space.
Scheme/Fit
Adebawore has the scheme versatility coaches love. He is athletic enough to be a stand-up edge rusher, but has the size and strength to play the end spot in an even front. As his body fills out, Adebawore will likely play the weak-side end spot in a 4 man defensive line. Nonetheless his versatility will allow his defensive coordinator to mix-up the looks the offense sees.
Projection
Adepoju Adebawore is an athletic specimen at defensive end. He has the physical traits to wreck an offensive game-plan on a weekly basis. Adebawore’s physical tools and potential make him a high upside prospect that is likely to become an all conference type performer at the next level.
