Remaining Battles
There are no uncommitted QB recruits that are in contention for our Top 300 rankings at this time.
Best Pure Passers
- Sam Huard – He has an effortless throwing motion and can make every throw a college quarterback could be asked to. He has excellent accuracy and arm strength to go with advanced mechanics.
- Kyle McCord – He has a quick release delivering the ball with arm strength and accuracy. He has excellent ball placement and can throw with good touch or with zip.
- Drake Maye – With his elite ball placement and good arm strength Maye can throw receivers open. His has a good release and can really spin the football, throwing a catchable ball that is beautiful to watch.
- JJ McCarthy – The ball seems to jump out of McCarthy’s hand when he throws. He has elite arm strength and excellent accuracy to go with it, making high level throws consistently.
Best Running Threats
- Caleb Williams – With an elite mix of strength, speed and explosiveness at the quarterback position, Williams has the ability to take your breath away on any play. He is a nightmare for defenders to tackle but a dream for fans to watch run.
- Sam Jackson – He is a good recruit as a receiver as well but Purdue intends to use him as a quarterback. Jackson has the speed and elusiveness to do major damage on the ground.
- Dematrius Davis – Displaying a variety of moves, Davis regularly escapes defenders who think they have him. He can make defenders miss in the proverbial phone booth.
- Jalen Milroe – A slippery runner with high level athleticism, Milroe has the speed and elusiveness to make big plays.
Who Needed To Land A Quality QB Prospect And Got One?
- USC – The Trojans have Kedon Slovis for at least one more season and backup Matt Fink is a redshirt junior. Slovis is amazing but the Trojans needed to land a top quarterback to groom in the 2021 class and USC has two committed in Miller Moss and Jaxson Dart.
- Michigan – The Wolverines have three quarterbacks that were good prospects but are yet unproven. The transfer portal can gut your quarterback depth in a moment and Michigan did not land a highly regarded 2020 QB recruit. With the commitment of JJ McCarthy there is a very talented prospect on the way to Ann Arbor.
- NC State – North Carolina State had not signed a four star or higher rated quarterback since Devin Leary in 2018. A top quarterback can vault a college football program up the rankings. Aaron McLaughlin is a talented prospect who could do just that for the Wolfpack.
- Texas Tech – The Red Raiders have a reputation for good quarterback play and Alan Bowman is a quality QB when healthy. Texas Tech needed to land a quality quarterback prospect to continue the strong play at the position and landed a high ceiling prospect in Behren Morton.
Who Recruited Top QB Prospects In Back To Back Years?
- Ohio State – The Buckeyes landed a commitment from blue chipper CJ Stroud as well as standout Jack Miller in the 2020 class. Ryan Day and company have backed that up with a commitment from Kyle McCord in 2021. It appears the quarterback room is well stocked in Columbus for the post Justin Fields era.
- Alabama -Nick Saban was able to get star quarterback Bryce Young in the 2020 recruiting class. Alabama continues the strong quarterback recruiting with a commitment from Jalen Milroe assuring that depth will be strong at QB in Tuscaloosa going forward.
- Washington – The Huskies have a commitment from our # 1 QB prospect in Sam Huard this cycle. This follows the signing of California star Ethan Garbers in the 2020 cycle. Washington has stocked up quality quarterbacks in Seattle.
- Oregon – The Ducks have signed Ty Thompson who is a tall prototypical quarterback in the 2021 class. In 2020 they secured the signature of California standout Jay Butterfield who is also a tall project-able quarterback. It’s clear Mario Cristobal has a mold he likes and has been recruiting to fit it.
